With Winter descending thick and fast, central heating, cold winds and being kept hidden under hats can wreak havoc on hair.
Here are 3 products I’ve found that can help your ‘do’ stay in lustrous condition this winter season:
1. C is for Hair Care Hair and Scalp Mud Mask (RRP £8.20) from Yes To Carrots (a fantastic, nature-based brand) offers extra conditioning to even the driest hair types. Containing organic extracts of Carrot, Pumpkin, Orange & Honey (rich with Beta-Carotene and Vitamin E), this fat pot of delicately scented pale orange cream-goo is lovely to slather all over your hair, while you lay back for 15 minutes (in the bath, I’d recommend – close your eyes and reeeeelax). It’s pretty powerful stuff and I’d say that only the most desperate, straw-like hair would need application more than, say , once a fortnight. Available from Victoria Health.
2. Kitoko Oil Treatment (around £5 for 10ml, 95ml also available), containing vitamin-packed Karité and Argan Oil, plus a UV filter, is like a ‘super-serum’, conditioning the hair and scalp as well as taming any crazy frizz. I bought some from my hairdresser last February and have been using it ever since. Only a few drops applied to damp hair after washing leaves your hair smooth and glossy. Because you only need a few drops (literally 3-6 drops for shoulder-length hair), even the pocket-sized 10ml bottle lasts for ages. Brilliant. Available at salons and online.
3. Enrich Hair Oil from Aromatherapy Associates (RRP £24) uses natural plant extracts and essential oils to add gloss and shine to dry, stressed hair. A treatment rather than a daily hair product, you apply to dry hair, work through and leave for around 20 minutes (or, for maximum effect, leave on overnight). Wash as usual afterwards and hey presto – beautiful hair that also smells good enough to eat. Really brilliant product for keeping winter hair in check. Available from Aromatherapy Associates online.
