Anyone with even the most fleeting interest in beauty knows that nothing beats a decent nights sleep when it comes to preserving a radiant, youthful appearance. These days, I’m thinking this may be more the Holy Grail of beauty than an anti-ageing potion that actually works or a super-food that really does keep you healthy all the time.
Luckily, there are some pretty amazing products out there that will maximise the effect of what sleep you do enjoy (quality or quantity regardless). One new player in this field is Overnight Repair Serum by Dermalogica (a brand I love), part of their AGE smart series.
Presented in a tiny white glass bottle, this Serum is designed to treat ageing skin, firming and revitalising overnight to restore softness and radiance by sun up.
A potent mix of essential oils and palmotoyl tripeptide-38 (which accelerates collagen production, apparently), you only need 4-6 drops each night.
I’ve been using this for a few nights now and it is a lovely product in several ways.
Firstly, the scent (attributable to the inclusion of jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang, geranium, rosemary, cinnamon and neroli botanical oils – there are no artificial fragrances here) is divine. Inhaling even the few drops upon application leaves you feeling relaxed and ready for bed.
Second, the serum melts in beautifully. It is not overly greasy and whether you apply a further night time moisturiser or not (I haven’t been), skin still feels really well moisturised.
Finally, in the morning, skin feels soft and ultra-smooth. People have commented on how good/healthy I look. Obviously, this could be down to several factors, but I do think this is a neat little product that deserves some credit. Application of the high quality oils alone to your skin overnight is going to do wonders, especially in the Wintertime. I like.
